2017 Season – Training Camp

The 2017 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft will take place at BUMS Headquarters from 7.30pm on Sunday September 3rd preceded by a burger & hot dog banquet provided by Cheryl (thank you, lady). The first game of the season is the Chiefs @ the Patriots and is played overnight on Thursday September 7th. We’ll be getting together on the evening of Friday 8th to watch it. Trading Day 1 will be at HQ from 3pm on October 8th before week 5’s games and Trading Day 2 will be before week 11 on November 19th. I hope as many as possible can make them, please put them in your diaries now. And so we begin the 23rd year of the BUMS. I hope you are all back for another season. If not please can you let me know asap. BUMS on Tour 2017 The reason for TD1 being a week earlier is because 4 BUMS are off to San Francisco for a week from Fri 13th October to see the Raiders play twice in a week in Oakland against the Chargers on Sun 15th and the Chiefs on Thursday Night (19th). If you are interested in joining Mark, Marcus, Aaron and I drop me a line asap. As always all are welcome. Franchise Players The time for the selection of our 2017-18 franchise players has arrived. You must supply the name of your new franchise man by July 7th, so just over 2 weeks time. To help out a few bits of research are attached . Firstly is the final table with each owners teams (so you can remember who you had on your squad in the first place) and how much they will cost you for the next two years if you franchise them. Remember if you cut your franchise player you still pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. David S and Marcus will work with a budget of $9.5m having cut $0.5m 2016-17 franchise men. Key franchise players becoming available again include receivers Emmanuel Sanders, Mike Evans, TY Hilton & Rob Gronkowski, to name but a few who have all ended their 2 year franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with the rookies - the rookie report (attached) details the 34 players from the first 3 rounds of the NFL Draft who may be available to us this season, together with who signed them. According to NFL.com the key free agency moves affecting the BUMS were:- Bears wide-out Alshon Jeffery who left for the Eagles, Cleveland WR Terrelle Pryor who is now in Washington replacing DeSean Jackson who went to Tampa Bay.
